Russian New Year party in Malta

Russian Centre for Science and Culture threw its annual New Year party for its English-speaking members, friends and Russian language course students on 15th December.

The guests “travelled in time”, learning and experiencing Russian New Year traditions.

The main highlight of the party was, undoubtedly, a fairy-tale character not much known in Malta — Snegurochka (Snow Maiden), a granddaughter of Ded Moroz (Grandfather Frost), a Russian Santa Claus. For this party the Russian centre invited a famous film and theatre actress Nadezhda Slavetskaya (Moscow Malaya Bronnaya theatre) to act as Snegurochka.

The RCSC guests had an opportunity to learn what the Russian New Year is all about — delicious and abundant food, merry dancing, singing, laughing and exchange of gifts. Shy in the very beginning, the guests, young and old, soon could not stop dancing, playing games and quizzes. Everyone was dancing with Ded Moroz.

This event got much attention from the local public.
