Folklore festival "Russian motives"

The folklore festival "Russian motives" was held from 21 to 23 December in Malta. The festival is held annually in order to promote and preserve Russian culture and Russian language, to support youth creativity, spreading of the Russian world, strengthening of friendly international relations and a positive image of Russia.

During festival at the City Theater in Valletta compatriots and foreigners attended master-classes and еру concert organised by the European Foundation for Support Culture, in collaboration with the Russian Centre for Science and Culture.

The main guest of the project has become one of the most prominent bands promoting Russian songs and professional art of playing Russian folk instruments - the State Academic Russian Folk Ensemble "Russia" was named for Lyudmila Zykina.

The performance of the soloist of the ensemble Irina Krutova, one of the most popular to date performers of old and contemporary Russian romances, singer, laureate of international contests and festivals, struck listeners to the core.

Russian-speaking compatriots in Malta also took part in the concert: the ensemble "Lyubavushka", choreographic class of Education Centre "Rainbow" and International School-Studio of Arts in Malta; young singer - Anna Salimon (Malta) and Sofia Mikhailova from Tomsk brilliantly performed their songs.
A great opera singer Andriana Yordanova was the event host, she also performed few songs.

Compatriots from Malta, Russian and Maltese guests became closer to each other, thanks to the festival, whose main objective is the exchange of cultures and the integration of Russian folklore in the national environment. Festival guests noted the need for such events in the future, as the main components of the success of the project is a bright program, talented performance, a lot of good emotions and pleasant moments, that are bringing people together.
