Embassy of Russia to Malta and Russian Center for Science and Culture in Malta staff was present.
Baron Schlippenbach graduated from the Naval cadet corps in 1800. In 1821 he was awarded with St. George cross for taking part in 18 naval campaigns. Since 1827, Schlippenbach commanded frigate "Alexandra", on which in 1828 he transited to the Mediterranean and participated in the Dardanelles blockade. Schlippenbach died on March 20, 1830 at the age of 47, on board of his vessel and was buried at Garden of Rest.
The Schlippenbach burial monument was restored by Russian Centre for Science and Culture and Embassy of Russia to Malta in 2008.
